Summer Solstice, 2004
Timothy J. Clark’s work, exhibited both naturally and internationally, is known for his elegant, impressionistic style within the mercurial nature of watercolor. His monumental painting, Summer Solstice, has been described as a “visual love poem” featuring his wife, Marriot, as the model. As both teacher and artist, Timothy stresses compositional elements such as color, line, and form. He particularly emphasizes conceptions of light during different times of the year, easily seen in his work, Summer Solstice. Light, shadow, and line remain central to his artistic career and this imposing watercolor, standing at 41 x 29″ provides a summation of his interests, talent, and historical predilection.
