Jackson Pollock, who is credited with being the “father of abstract art” described abstract art as “energy and motion made visible.” Abstract art does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality, but instead uses shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to convey meaning. This exhibition will highlight abstract artwork from the RAM Permanent Collection and include works by artists such as Robyn Horn, Marta Jones, David Hayes, Kay Aclin, Leon Bibel, David Kessler, Lyle Ward and Patricia Lappin.
