PERMANENT GALLERY

On January 18, 1976, Dr. and Mrs. W.E. Knight donated the first eleven pieces of Boehm Porcelain to the Fort Smith Art Center. The largest Boehm collection in the state, on exhibit, were viewed in antique display cases. As the quantity grew, the Boehm Porcelain Gallery was constructed. This corridor gallery, joining the Polly Crews Gallery to the Vaughn Schaap House, was funded in part with a grant from Amis de l ‘Art’s, and the National Endowment of the Arts. The dedication took place April 26, 1981. Present were Arkansas Governor and Mrs. Frank White and Helen Boehm, CEO of Boehm Studios, and widow of artist Edward Marshall Boehm.
